MayDay Community CELEBRATION

May Day represents many cultural significances around the world, oftentimes as a community celebration revolving around the coming of summer. Revelers dance in natural surroundings, singing, eating, and drinking accompanied by wildflowers, music, and loved ones. We don’t need an excuse to party, but MAYDAY Festival sure is a good one.

Join us and @mountaindogcycling for a festive day you won’t soon forget, with full demo fleets from @pivotcycles and @rockymountainbicycles, a vendor village, raffle prizes, food trucks, drinks from @schussboombrewing, and good times for the entire family. Celebrate the kickoff of season MMXXIV on May 19 and raise funds for more trails that are good for everyone. ✊ #MAYDAYFestival #SkyTavernBikePark #SkyTavern #STBP #Nonprofit #MAYDAY #bikepark #renotahoe #renomtb #tahoemtb #tahoemountainbiking #mountainbiking #laketahoe #trailsaregoodforeveryone #pivotcycles #rockymountain #community #reno #tahoe

Dryland Training for Kids That have not been in Snowsports (Copy)

This is a weekend to get kids that have never been in snowsports an extra time. Think of it a basic level 1 training. We go over safety and gear. Its their first opportunity to slide. We are looking at a schedule for each day based on snow.

This is also the time new support members find their place and role at Sky Tavern. All this happens at Sky Tavern so watch the emails.

Dryland Clinics

This is a day for the kids that have never been on snow before. We teach what is “Level 0”. The very basics. Equipment, falling, get up, walk, safety. For the kids this starts at 10 and goes to noon or less. At the same time is when parents can figure out where they are helping out. That part repeats for most of the day. See the email the week prior for full instructions.

Instructor Orientation

Thursday evening, November 16. 7 to? PM. In the Ski Swap Building by Sams Club. (more about Ski Swap below) Night 1 for the new instructors. We have some of the most skilled instructors in the area volunteering at Sky Tavern. They are going to start passing on their knowledge to you. You think you can’t teach but you can. If you can get down the beginner hill, you can teach on the beginner hill. Someone did this for you way back when. Time to play it forward. Fair warning. A big sales pitch on being an instructor is coming. FYI, we do not toss you out there all by yourself with a bunch of kids crossing their tips and giving up and making snow angels. Been doing this for a long time. There is a proven procedure. You can do this!
