Freestyle Ski and Snowboard

Sky Tavern offers a variety of progressive terrain parks. Our main terrain park is located near the top of the mountain, tucked away in its own area. It is next to the Mountain Cafe, equipped with a stereo system, and attracts some of the coolest skiers and snowboarders in the area. This creates a fun and progressive atmosphere unlike any other resort. Starting off small and working your way up is the key to freestyle terrain. Our parks are designed by Shawn Clawson, who knows firsthand what it takes to make a safe, progressive, and quality terrain park. He has a decade of riding experience and has competed at national and international events in North America and Europe.

  • We are looking for freestyle coaches! If you would like to become a member of Sky Tavern and live the coaching experience, please contact us at 775.323.5125 or info@skytavern.com.
  • Freestyle students must be at least Level 6 ability and be able to demonstrate that ability to their coach.
  • Parent approval must be given to participate.

As members of the Tahoe League Race Series and USSA Far West, kids learn to carve gates. Our group has produced a number of amazing champions, with more on the way. • There is no minimum age requirement, but students must be at least Level 6 ability and be able to demonstrate that ability to their coach.
  • Students must be willing to participate in a full day of race training; most athletes train both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Parent approval must be given to participate.
  • Race team students must abide by Sky Tavern policies and procedures.
  • Limited Space!

Adaptive Ski School

Sky Tavern offers an adaptive ski school for children (ages 5-18 and older students by approval) with physical and cognitive disabilities. Specially trained staff is available to help these kids experience the thrill of winter sports using specialized equipment. Participation in a safe environment empowers those who in turn gain confidence for outdoor recreation.

Sky Tavern is determined to make our facility as adaptive-friendly as possible which in turn enriches everyone’s experience. These kids are an inspiration to everyone on the mountain.

Please contact us at 775.323.5125 or info@skytavern.com to learn more about the adaptive program.

Junior Ski/Snowboard Instructor (ages 12-17)

Children must be at least a Level 6 skier or snowboarder. Junior Instructors attend mandatory pre-season orientation and clinics, obtain approval from director, and are fully trained before being allowed to instruct. Initially, they shadow other instructors before being given a class of their own. Kids learn really well from their peers, and Junior Instructors learn responsibility and experience a great amount of personal growth so much by having this responsibility through this excellent program.
