Become a Certified Instructor

Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.
– Dali Lama XIV

Skiing may not be a path to immortality, but exposing it to kids so they have something for their lifetime, might just be. And being a great teacher and an amazing skier is not something to pass on. You can become both at Sky Tavern through the PSIA and AASi programs for instructors. PSIA is the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Likewise AASi is the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. Both are professional accrediting organizations for snow sport instruction. At Sky Tavern an instructor can train for and be tested for certification.  This is a chance to give back to kids at a very high level what they do for you. Make you smile!

A minimum single season process, it involves classroom studies, on snow clinics and teaching students. At the end of the season each candidate is tested for abilities from communication to skiing or riding. Passing puts you is a class of skiers and riders that truly do change the world. Go for it!

Classes start right after Thanksgiving with nose to text book and on snow as soon as possible. Taught by Sky Tavern’s own Trainer, Frank Deras. He personifies passion for the sport and Sky Tavern.

Join the National Ski Patrol

Being a member of the Ski Patrol means something. It means dedication to help making snowsports safe and helping when things don?t go as expected. It means being able to ski anywhere, any time and bringing high skills of outdoor emergency training with you. It means being able to do for someone else when they most need it. And it means having a lot of fun too!

If you would like to join those that proudly wear the cross on the slopes, Sky Tavern has a program for both young adults and those older for membership, and certification. Medical and on the hill training are both involved and the process takes time and commitment, but is very rewarding. The skills you gain are something you can carry with you the rest of your outdoor time and may lead to a career in medicine for a young adult. Sky Tavern will start ski patrol training at age 15. Space is limited.
